A Themed Wedding: Party Decor Possibilities

A Themed Wedding: Party Decor Possibilities

by Jenni Rowenby

As a bride, it is your right to have a memorable wedding day. Friends and family should share in your joy, so much that they remember your special day for many years to come. Juggling different combinations of flowers, colors and decorations, offers you a fair amount of possibilities. But when you start with wedding party decor, a whole new world opens up, and changes the picture completely.

Although it is important to create an atmosphere of joy in the church, or wherever the actual ceremony will be held, your guests’ attention is mostly drawn to the actual proceedings, and of course your dress. Most of their time will be spent at the reception venue, and this is where the lasting impression will be created. If you think back to the weddings you have attended, you will find that most of the memories stored are from receptions.

Using wedding party decor, you will be able to establish a theme, and break away from what is “the usual wedding reception”. Creating a theme costs more, so be prepared to spend a bit, unless you are able to borrow some of it.

When you have to decide on your theme, you might find it easier if you focus very narrow. You could, for instance, be looking at using a garden theme. Choosing a spring flower garden theme will make it easier to create an exact mental image of your expectations, and easier to execute.

Next, have a good look at the venue. Can the lighting be adjusted to complement your theme? If not, you will have to come up with alternatives, or you will have to choose between the venue and the theme. Bright light could lay to waste all efforts to create an atmosphere. Similarly, see if the layout presents any bottlenecks. Picture the lines along which guests will be walking regularly, and plan accordingly.

Start of by creating a central piece of attraction. It could be a large painting, or some old photos set in a majestic frame, or even your wedding cake, provided it is both striking and unusual. It could even be the string section you employed for the event. When your guests enter, their eyes have to focus somewhere immediately, and absorb the rest from there. In order to achieve maximum impact, the theme for your wedding party decor has to have a specific “starting point”.

The time, effort and money spent to create a theme will be well worth it. Your choice to use wedding party decor allows you to rise above the norm, and create something truly memorable. The fact that there is a flowing connection makes for a striking effect, and will give your guests something to talk about.
