Tips For Wedding Planning

Tips For Wedding Planning

by Jenni Rowenby

Have you ever talked to a couple that were married recently? if you had to ask them for some tips for wedding planning, chances are that they will point out loopholes in their planning process, warning you to not make the same mistakes they did.

Talking to any “wedding professional”, whether it be from a company or an individual, you will most probably be told one thing time and again: Start planning as early as possible. Simply drawing up a list will help, but there could still be a lot of smaller details you fail to note. Get a wedding planning worksheet from the internet, or go out and buy a wedding planning book.

Any set of tips for wedding planning will include the budget. Decide how much you can afford before you start taking any other steps. Break your budget down into every little detail, to avoid spending too much on one thing at the expense of another. You have to stick to it, unless you save on something, and add the savings somewhere else.

Take a look at what has to be done. This will be a mixture of arrangements, buying things, and making some. You will be able to arrange some things long before, even they only get done days before the actual wedding. Create a time table with deadlines for everything to be taken care of, and check off finished items as you go.

Stick to the time schedule, no matter what. At times it might get boring, and you may feel like postponing some of it, thinking there is still plenty of time left. Doing this will have you fall into the exact same trap you are trying to avoid, and everything will become hectic and stressful at the last minute. Or you may actually run out of time, and some things may be left undone, creating a recipe for disaster. This is probably the most important of all the tips for wedding planning.

An easy way to keep focus, would be to “build a picture” in your mind as you complete each task. As you carry on, seeing the picture “filling up”, you will be able to stay motivated when you have to take care of things that seem tedious or monotonous.

If you are able to stick to these tips for wedding planning, you should be able to form and execute a thorough plan, yet allow yourself enough time to have everything in place without having to stress too much. Everybody else that has to supply something, whether it be the florist or the dressmaker, will also be able to plan, and manage their time without stress.
