Wedding Advice From a Pro

Wedding Advice From a Pro

by Ciara Daykin

I always feel really good about a wedding when the couple has their first dance. By this point in the night I can reflect on the event as a whole and really analyze what happened there that day. This is also when I can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that my couple is married and now enjoying their night.

Wedding Advice for Coordinating the Million Pieces

In planning a wedding, there are a million pieces which need to be coordinated. No good wedding advice can be complete without an emphasis on coordination. If all elements are well-coordinated and planned, nothing can prevent us from creating the overall experience of the complete wedding. This is true especially for big weddings. I need to be in total control of all aspects of the wedding to make sure that things move in the right direction and nothing whatsoever goes wrong with the wedding.

People ask me all the time, “What is your best advice for pulling off a big wedding?” My answer isn’t simple or one line. I think of it like pulling off a movie and all of the people that you need to be a part of making a movie in order for it to be a blockbuster success. That’s why I want to review with you a couple of the elements that I think are KEY to planning and pulling off a big wedding:.

1. You MUST Have A Wedding Planner – When you’ve got a lot of people to take care of, you need to make sure that someone other than you is taking care of them.

2. Hire an Efficient Director – The star of a movie can only be successful if they have an efficient director. So my wedding advice here will be not to hire an inefficient wedding planner just because they come at a cheap price. A movie director can only be efficient if they have a great team, hav experience in the kind of movie they are making and have the confidence to handle the whole movie. Similarly, you need a wedding planner who has an experienced team of professionals and the confidence to handle the kind of wedding you are looking for. So let your movie be a success and hire a good wedding planner.

3. Hire a Director You can Connect With – Your director is someone you will be spending a lot of time with. So make sure that you pick a wedding planner you can share everything with and love to spend time with.

4. Supporting Cast Needs To Be On Board – Make sure that both the bridal party and the parents are on board with what’s going to happen on the wedding day. They need to be a team and they need to understand what is trying to be accomplished because they play a big role in pulling off this event.

5. Hire a Team that Works Well Together – The whole crew of the movie needs to work together as a team and have the same vision. That’s the only way a movie can be successful. So take my wedding and hire vendors who are the best in their profession. They should understand the wedding look that you want and should work together as a close-knit team to get that for you.

6. The Script Must Be Flawless- You need to be incredibly organized. Each member of the team needs an event binder filled with every piece of information possible, including an itinerary. A schedule showing where each member of the bridal party and each vendor is going to be each hour is a must. That way if anyone has a question, your planner has the answer. To pull off something like this, organization is essential.

The success of a big wedding depends on how clearly you know what you want and where you want it to happen. So take my wedding advice and make sure that everything runs smoothly and without any glitches. After all you do deserve a perfect wedding!
