DIY Wedding Favors. Unique Individual Wedding Favors
Even in the most affluent times, a wedding could seem like a great burden for a lot of people. But hey, who said one shouldn’t do a wonderful affair with a tight budget?
In fact, a friend recently inquired why we didn’t revert to the custom of giving out bonbonnieres as wedding favours, as early European aristocrats. A bonbonniere, as you probably know, is a little box made of porcelain. They generally held sugar cubes, which stood for money and status because sugar was a luxury thing. However as the cost of sugar fell, bonbonnieres became more accessible to more people. Well, this text is regarding these and all wedding favors, and how to find them.
First things first
First you need to know how many favors you will be giving out and what to put in them, i.e., whether you’ll need a sachet, or a box as the container. Then, sit down and think what you and your spouse enjoy doing most, or what characterizes you as a couple. For instance if you like gardening, your wedding favor could be a single large flower, done up with multicolored ribbons. Third, think if your wedding will coincide with any particular festive season or day. Finally, think if you want to follow a particular style, and what kind it will be, i.e., formal, etc.
Choose wisely
Since we are looking at do it yourself wedding favors here, it goes without saying that you will need to keep things inexpensive, and yet make smart choices. And in this day and age, this is simple to do just by copying your favorite songs onto multiple CDs. Or even simpler would be to fill the favors with chocolates or othe candy and tie multicolored ribbons around them. For the personal touch, you could add a post-it or sticker with your wedding date and your names. The thing about candy and such stuff is that you inevitably get a cut in price when you buy in bulk.
Innovate if you can
Another idea to make it personal is to bake some small cakes and include the recipe. And other imaginative ideas are bath salts flower seeds, sports memorabilia (miniature baseball bats, perhaps or part of the gear of your favorite team), or an assortment of your favorite poems. For packaging, you can employ scraps of material like tulle and organza, or simply colored cellophane, or cheese paper.
Don’t break your bank
Most of the wedding favors discussed here are easily available either at the local convenience store or even the grocer’s. Whatever you do, you won’t spend more than a few dollars apiece, at most.
